Xavier Mascaró’s Guardians series comes to Segovia: ten pieces inspired by medieval armour, each measuring three metres tall and almost two metres wide, cast from the same mould and using the same material, steel. At first they seem identical, but closer inspection reveals each has its own texture and rust. The artist invites viewers to discover the ‘interaction’ between the pieces and their locations.
The launch will begin at 6pm with an open-air chamber concert given by students of the Reina Sofía Music School, sponsored by Fundación Prosegur in collaboration with Fundación Albéniz. In the event of rain, the concert will be held in the Santa María del Parral Monastery at the same time.
