After a career in Fast Fashion and becoming totally fed up with it all, I decided that I wanted to switch things up a bit. Seeing the horrible impact that the fashion industry was having on the environment and the total lack of sustainability in it, drove me to start something which was the opposite; a slow fashion brand, made with recycled fabrics. At Cape Cornwall, we upcycle already existing garments, breathing new life into each one. Each piece has its own story to tell. I find wastage fabrics in India which otherwise would have gone into landfill. Instead of creating a problem, I wanted to find a solution to an already existing one. We have a small team of women seamstress’s in India who make our clothes. Giving these women their own financial income and independence is incredibly important to me; contributing to the sustainability of their own family units and thus the path goes on.
