The historical narratives that concern Latin America usually have their origin in a colonial perspective. Untold Microcosms: Latin American Stories at the British Museum is a joint project involving the Hay Festival and the Santo Domingo Centre of Excellence for Latin American Research at the British Museum (SDCELAR) that seeks to problematize and redirect these narratives, generating new discourses through interpretations of objects in the museum’s Americas collection by artists, writers and thinkers from the region. A much-needed rereading of our past to build a more plural and inclusive future. With Juan Cárdenas (Colombia), Djamila Ribeiro (Brazil) and Velia Vidal (Colombia), in conversation with Ricardo Chica, with an introduction by Felipe Restrepo Pombo.
Co-organized with SDCELAR (The Santo Domingo Centre of Excellence for Latin American Research at the British Museum)
