Gilles Lipovetsky (France) is one of the most important philosophers, sociologists and communications theorists of the last five decades; he is a great analyst of the contemporary world and subjects such as hyper-consumption, postmodernity, the media and individualism. His books include L’ère du vide, L’Empire de l’éphémère, andL’occidente mondialisé. He is a Knight of the Legion of Honour and has honorary doctorates from various universities in Europe and North America. His most recent book is Plaire et toucher. Essai sur la société de séduction (2020), and it examines seduction from two perspectives: on one hand, the erotic, which covers courtship mechanisms and dynamics involving couples; on the other hand, forms of contemporary domination: economics, politics and education.
