Mae’r awdur Anthony McGowan, enillydd Medal Carnegie, yn trafod yr ysbrydoliaeth y tu ôl i’w nofel ddiweddaraf ar gyfer Barrington Stoke, The Beck. Mae Kyle yn llai na bodlon am gael ei ddympio gyda’i hen dad-cu ecsentrig am y dydd, ond mae byd newydd cyfan yn agor iddo pan gaiff ei gyflwyno i’r rhyfeddodau sydd i’w gweld yn y beic ar waelod yr ardd. Trwy gyfuno hiwmor gyda themâu tywyllach ecoladdiad, bwlio ac iechyd meddwl, mae The Beck yn gwthio ffiniau, ac yn mynd i’r afael â nifer o faterion mewn ffordd hygyrch a pherthnasol i ddarllenwyr yn eu harddegau.
Carnegie Medal-winning author Anthony McGowan discusses the inspiration behind his latest novella for Barrington Stoke, The Beck. Kyle is less than pleased about getting dumped at his eccentric old grandad’s for the day, but a whole new world opens up to him when he’s introduced to the marvels to be found in the beck at the bottom of the garden. Combining deadpan humour with darker themes of ecocide, bullying and mental health, The Beck pushes boundaries and tackles numerous issues in an accessible and relatable manner for teen readers.
