(La Coruña, 1957) Founder of and editor at Ediciones del Viento, which started life in 2003 and which has become known for its travel books, for which he has recently been awarded the Spanish Geographical Society’s Communications Prize. The Viento Simún collection includes English-language classics as well as work rescued from neglect, by Spanish, Portuguese and Hispano-American travellers (Páez, Serpa Pinto, Lacerda, Bayo, Gómez Carrillo, Arlt, Arguedas, Moreno, Oteyza, etc.). Its catalogue also includes fiction, in a collection called Viento Abierto that includes a number of young contemporary writers, and it publishes the City of Salamanca Novel Prize, of which he is a judge. He has been on the board of the Madrid Publishers’ Association and currently belongs to the scientific committee of La tribuna journal (linked to the Emilia Pardo Bazán Museum). He is a patron of the Charo y Camilo José Cela Foundation (forming part of the organizational committee of their centenary events in 2016) and contributes weekly to the La Voz de Galicia newspaper with the Tierra de Nadie column. An occasional translator, he organizes and hosts literary events and book-related activities. He has lived in London, Madrid and Porto, but years ago he returned to his native city where he works as an independent publisher.
