Alex Huerta obtained his Master’s and PhD degrees in Anthropology plus a diploma in Culture and Media studies from New York University. He studied Anthropology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru where he currently works as a professor and directs the “Sherezade Project” which is designed to produce and disseminate micro-documentary films online. He is also coordinator of the Medical Anthropology and Intercultural Health Group. He has published Imagen que nos mira: Vedettes peruanas convocando significados sociales (2012). Paladines y villanos: Corporalidad, identidad, risas y llantos en la lucha libre de espectáculo (2015), Murales en Movimiento, analizando eventos sociales como performance (2017). Masculinidad desafiada (2018). El chongo peruano, una antropología del humor popular (Estruendomudo. 2019). In addition, he writes columns for the newspaper El Comercio.
