María Hesse (1982). She became an illustrator at the tender age of six, she didn't know it yet, but her teacher and mother did. A few years later, after finishing her studies in Special Education, she gathered her pens and studied Illustration in order to finally become a professional. She has worked for the publishing house Edelvives in the production of textbooks. She has also illustrated for magazines such as Jot Down, El País Semanal, Fashion & Art, Público, El Cultural, Kireii and Glamour, and worked with various brands such as Louise Boutin, Brugal, Compañía Fantástica and Martini. María has published with various companies, including Orgullo y Prejuicio for Alfaguara and Frida Kahlo. An Illustrated Life for Lumen. In 2020 she was chosen as one of the 100 best illustrators in the world by Taschen. In addition to publishing work, María Hesse's images have been exhibited at various exhibitions, and she has her own personal work. After the publishing phenomenon that was her first illustrated book, Frida Kahlo. An Illustrated Life, translated in seventeen countries and winner of the National Foundation for Children's and Young Adult Books Award in Brazil, she has continued to publish books that have also been translated into various languages, such as El Placer and Malas Mujeres.
