Sheila ALVARADO

Artist and writer by vocation, LGTBI activist at heart. She has written and illustrated eight books. She has had five solo art exhibitions, and more than fifty at a collective level, both national and international. In recent years, she has represented Peru in Luxembourg, Mexico, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, and the United States, and has won a dozen awards for her work in various fields, including being nominated for an Eisner Award for her graphic novel Ciudad de Payasos, co-authored with the writer Daniel Alarcón; winner of the Fund to Support Cultural Activism for LGTBIQ Diversity financed by the European Commission and Hivos, for her musical composition Los que se aman; 5th Icpna Children's Poetry Biennial for El vals de las cometas; the fund for creative children's literature book projects from the Ministry of Culture of Peru (2018 and 2020); and the National Prize for Children's and Youth Literature of Peru for her illustrated book Un cuento y una canción.
