Laura Ardila Arrieta is a journalist and reporter from the Colombian Caribbean, with over 20 years of experience. She spent ten years working for

, shortlisted for a 2020 Gabo Award in the Coverage category. For this report, she wrote the section “El territorio indígena que ahogó la poderosa Hidroituango”. She has worked for various media outlets, including the digital
outlets Vorágine and Liga Contra El Silencio,
and she is a Sunday columnist for the newspaper
El Espectador
. She is a major writer in terms of understanding the dynamics of the centralist elites of Bogota, the political groups of the periphery, and the way power is structured in the country. She runs her YouTube channel, La Colombia Nostra, and since 2023 she has been on the board of directors of the Foundation for Press Freedom.
