María Elvira Samper (Bogotá, 1947). A Philosophy and Literature graduate from the University of Los Andes; she did post-graduate studies in Politics at the same university, she has been editor-in-chief, deputy editor and news director of Semana magazine; director of Noticiero de las 7; co-director of Noticiero QAP; general editor of Cambio magazine; moderator of the television programmes El Juicio (RTI) and Las Claves (Canal Capital), and columnist for the magazines Diners and Cambio, and the newspaper El Espectador. Analyst of the RCN Noticias morning desk (2010-2022). Samper has been the winner of several Simón Bolívar awards, including Vida y Obra (2010). Author of 1989 (Ed.Planeta 2019) and De Lehder y los Rodríguez a Otoniel – Cuarenta años de guerra contra las drogas (Ed.Planeta, 2022).
