(Mexico City, 1970) He studied Communication Sciences, specialising in Educational Radio and Television at the Universidad de las Américas Puebla. He has been a columnist and cultural critic for El Economista since December 2002. He has interviewed numerous writers and filmmakers and has written, translated and designed for various local and national literary, press and specialist publications (Libros de México, Revuelta, De Viaje, Cinépata, Cinéfila, La masacre de Cholula, etc.). He directed the short film Ayúdame (2001). He spend three years participating with the Queretano Institute for Culture and Arts’ weekly cultural programme Asomarte. He has run various workshops on the subjects of film, creative writing and short fiction. Co-founder in 2004 of the Una Vuelta de Tuerca National Literature Prize. His Túnel received the 2001 Rosario Castellanos Novella Prize (CONECULTA Chiapas 2001), the 2002 National Fantasy and Science Fiction Story Prize for his short story Comin’o’age, and the 2010 José Fuentes Mares National Literature Prize for the best book of short stories published in 2009-2010 for his book: Cuando te toca (Ficticia, 2009).
