Born in Rome in 1975, Lorenzo Ribaldi studied Medieval History at the Universities of Rome and Seville. After working in various parts of the book world – first in a warehouse, then a bookshop, and then as a seller – he founded the publishing house laNuevaFrontiera in 2002, which since its beginning has focussed principally on the translation of Potuguese, Catalan and Spanish language authors into Italian. The catalogue of laNuevaFrontiera is divided into three collections: “libaramente”, for contemporary fiction; “il basilica”, dedicated to classics; and “Cronacha di Frontiera”, for literary non-fiction. It is a testament to their success that they can count so many important contemporary authors among their catalogue, including - among others - the writers Valeria Luiselli, Yuri Herrera, Emiliano Monge, Lina Meruane, Jaume Cabré and Luiz Ruffato, as well the classic authors Julio Ramón Ribeyro, Felisberto Hernández, Juan José Saer, Rodolfo Walsh and the Mexican journalist Diego Osorno. In 2013, La Nueva Frontiera launched La Nueva Frontiera Junior, a new line dedicated to books for children and young adults.
