After studying biology at university, Philippe Hunziker went into the world of business and management, working in companies whose activities have ranged from exporting artisan goods and coffee to marketing vehicles. In 2000, he took joined the SOPHOS bookstore (founded in 1998) where he has worked since as General Manager. There, he has been responsible for the direction and implementation of the shop’s overall strategy, which led him initially to open five new branches, as well as greatly expand their original store. In order to secure the good commercial management of the store, Hunziker has overseen the store’s strategies for marketing, public relations, and their online and in-store communication, as well as the programming of a particularly full calendar of cultural events throughout the year (150 public events, 100 reading group meetings, and 10 workshops in the past year). He has participated in four Conferences for Latin America Booksellers (CERLALC), two Otra Mirada Conferences for independent bookshops and publishers in Latin America, and several other forums dedicated to the world of books. He has written two articles for the magazine Trama & Texturas: Mundo digital y librería en los confines de la hispanidad (No.14, 2011) and El libro en Centroamérica (No.19, 2012).
