Author of ten books of poetry, two of fiction, one of biographical sketches and one of visual poetry. The work, translated by Jen Hofer, Negro marfil/Ivory black received a Harold Morton Landon award from the Academy of American Poets in NY and the Pen International for the best book translated from any language. Aguascalientes Poetry Prize 1988, Guggenheim Foundation Fellow 2006, Xavier Villaurrutia Writers Prize in 2012. León de Lidia, her most recent book (Tusquets, 2022), is also being published in Spain by Acantilado. She lives in Mexico City with her dog Isaac.
