A US writer whose first book,
The End of Night. Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light, was published in 2013 and has been translated into four languages. Before this, his prose had already appeared in publications such as
Slate, Salon, Los Angeles Times, Outside, Audubon, Conservation, Reader's Digest, National Geographic and
Creative Nonfiction. Bogard also edited the anthology
Let There Be Light: Testimony on Behalf of the Dark and currently lectures in Creative Nonfiction at James Madison University, Virginia.
