Marcelo URIBE

uribe-marcelo (México, 1953) is translator, poet and director of Ediciones Era. He studied Latin American and Spanish literature in the UNAM and Maryland University, where he contributed to the foundation of the Latin American Study Centre and coordinated a number of cultural activities. He has published poetry and essays, translated various books and articles, poems and texts by John Ashberry, William Carlos Williams, Paul Valéry, Wallace Stevens, Bei Dao, Dyaln Thomas and Eugenio Montale, amongst many. In 1997, Uribe received the Carlos Pellicer Prize for Poetry for his book of poems Las delgadas paredes del sueño. Together with Miguel León-Portilla, Vicente Rojo and Coral Bracho he prepared the nathuatl poetry antology La Tinta negra y roja in 2008.
