(Bolivia, 1967) Edmundo Paz teaches Latin American literature at Cornell University. He is the author of thirteen novels, including Los vivos y los muertos (2008), Norte (2011), Los días de la peste (2017) and his most recent book, La mirada de las plantas (2022); as well as six short story collections, among them Billie Ruth (2013), Las visiones (2016) and La vía del futuro (2021). He has co-edited the books Se habla español (2000) and Bolaño salvaje (2008). His works have been translated into eleven languages and have won the author a range of prizes, including the Juan Rulfo Award for short stories (1997) and the Bolivian National Novel prize (2002). In 2006 he received a Guggenheim Fellowship.
