John Cassy is Channel Director of Sky Arts Channels.
Cassy, aged 35, began as Channel Manager, at the then named Artsworld, in May 2004. During that time he has overseen the full acquisition of the channel by Sky, a change in channel branding to Sky Arts and a variety of new initiatives including its move into Sky’s entertainment pack of channels, extending its broadcast hours from 10 to 18 per day and a re-brand. He joined Sky in June 2003 to work on a range of commercial projects for the then Sky chief executive Tony Ball and a range of Sky departments. John recently returned from a six month secondment in New York working with the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones, following News Corp's acquisition of the newspaper publisher.
Prior to joining Sky, Cassy worked as a journalist at The Guardian and The Express newspapers. He has a degree in Social and Political Science from St John’s College, Cambridge. Interests include music, cooking, cinema, sport and travel.
