Mónica Maristain is a journalist and writer hailing from Argentina, since the year 2000 she resides in Mexico. She founded the music magazine La Contumancia/Sólo música and has written for national and international press, including Argentinian newspapers Clarín, Página 12 and La Nación. Her work has seen her be a permanent contributor to both EFE and DPA news agencies and is currently permanent collaborator with Milenio Semanal magazine. Until 2008 she held a position as Playboy's chief editor for all of Latin America. Her career spans a wide range of publications, amongst her works are: En el nombre del fútbol; Futbolistas: el club de los 100 Volumen 1 y 2; El club de los 100 latinos (in colaboration with the photographer Andrea Staccioli); Playboy México: Quinto Aniversario and 30 Actores hechos en México. She's also the author of the poem compilation Drinking Thelonious (AXIAL). For her coverage of the 1992 Olympic games in Barcelona she was named journalist of the year by the Argentinian Editors Association. She also formed part of the jury for the Fernando Benítez Award at the 2007 Book Faire in Guadalajara.
