Roy NOBLE

noble-roy Roy Noble is a native of Brynaman in the Amman Valley of Carmarthenshire but he has lived for the past 40 years in Aberdare with his wife Elaine.

His early professional career was in education and in the latter years he was a Head Teacher of two primary schools in the County of Powys. He eventually joined the BBC full time and his daily radio programme has attained high listening figures in Wales for a number of years, culminating in a national Sony Award.

He was a regular co-presenter on the Welsh language evening magazine programme ‘Heno’ (Tonight) for seven years.

Roy is constantly in demand as an after-dinner speaker or conference host at many organisations, clubs, societies. He was Chairman of the Wales Youth Agency from 1998 to 2001 and is often involved with public engagements and initiatives. He was, until recently, a member of the National Partnership Forum for Older Persons set up by the Welsh Assembly Government.

In 2001, he was awarded the OBE for services to the community and for charity support in Wales. He was also made a Fellow of UWIC (University of Wales Institute, Cardiff) and a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary International.

In 2007,he became a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Mid Glamorgan and in 2008 he was accepted into the National Eisteddfod of Wales ‘ Gorsedd y Beirdd ‘ – Bardic Circle. 2009 brought the award of the Chancellor’s Medal at the University of Glamorgan.
