Andrés Hoyos was born in Bogotá in 1953. He has 12 books published:
Por el sendero de los ángeles caídos (1989),
Conviene a los felices permanecer en casa (1992),
Los viudos (y otros cuentos) (1994),
La tumba del faraón (2000),
Vera (2002), an anthology of Sylvia Plath’s poems (1993), another bilingual anthology of Paul Verlaine’s poetry (1995), a version of Shakespeare’s
A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2000),
Gotas cordiales, a book of aphorisms and short texts (Libros Malpensante, 2003),
Manual de escritura (Libros Malpensante, 2015) and
Los hijos de la fiesta (2016). In November of 2022, Seix-Barral published his twelfth book,
La tía Lola. In journalism, he is best known for launching the magazine
El Malpensante. Since May 2008, he writes a weekly column on the editorial page of
El Espectador and is active on Twitter under the name @andrewholes.
