(Mexico City, 1951) Writer and publisher. Since 1988 he has been joint editor, together with Margarita de Orellana, of Artes de México magazine. He has received a number of honours for his literary work, and was named Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Government, while the 20th Autumn Literature Festival in Montauban, France, was dedicated in its entirety to his work. He has published more than two dozen books, translated into 15 languages. His works include The Secret Gardens of Mogador (2008; 2003 Cálamo Prize awarded by Librería Cálamo and Zaragoza University, and the St Petersburg Reads Prize, Russia), La mano del fuego (Alfaguara, 2008), Elogio del insomnio (Alfaguara, 2012) and Quinteto de Mogador (Alfaguara, 2014). He shared the 2015 Poestate Poetry Prize, held in the Swiss town of Logano, with Elsa Cross. His most recent book is Luz del colibrí (Era, 2016), which consists of poetry cycles that explore the experience of waking up together.
