Guillermo Altares is a journalist, currently in charge of the Culture section of the newspaper El País, where he has held several positions of responsibility as editor-in-chief of International, Reports, and Ideas supplement. He has also been a reporter in conflict zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and a leader writer. He previously worked for the Latin American section of Agence France Press. Altares is the author of Una lección olvidada. His essay Viajes por la historia de Europa (Tusquets) received the award for “best essay” in the bookshops of Madrid.
