Abdellah Taïa (Salé, 1973). A French-language Moroccan writer. After studying Literature at the Mohamed V University in Rabat, in 1998 he settled in Paris, where his literary career began. He has so far published, among other texts, six novels: Mon Maroc (2009, Cálamo Prize), Le Rouge du tarbouche, Salvation Army, Une mélancolie árabe, Le jour du roi and Infidels. Keenly aware of current affairs in Morocco and the Arab world, he contributes opinion articles to the international press on a regular basis. In 2012 he directed his first film, L’armée du salut, based on his novel of the same name.
