Yuliana Ortiz Ruano (Esmeraldas, 1992) has published the books of poetry: Sovoz, Canciones desde el fin del mundo (Libero, Madrid, 2021) and Cuaderno del imposible regreso a Pangea (Cajón de Sastre, Bogota, 2024). She was selected for the Translator Choice II award at the LATINALE Latin American Literature Festival, organized by the Cervantes Institute in Berlin. Fiebre de carnaval (La Navaja Suiza, Madrid, 2022), her first novel, won the IESS Primo Romanzo Latinoamericano Award in Italy in 2023, the Joaquín Gallegos Lara national award for best novel, in Ecuador, and was selected for PEN Presents, the English PEN selection of sample translations. Selected for the Granada Unesco Literary City 2023 International Writers-in-Residence Programme. Her poetic work has been translated into Portuguese, English, Finnish, and German.
