Born in San Juan del Cesar (Guajira), he studied Medicine at the National University of Colombia, he has a Master’s in Epidemiology and is a doctoral candidate in Health from the University of El Valle, in the field of Ethnic-Racial Inequalities in Health. He was advisor to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (2022) and Vice-Minister of Talent and Social Appropriation of Knowledge (2023). He is a consultant for the Pan American Health Organization and Member of the Scientific Advisory Commission for the study of the causes of malnutrition in La Guajira. He is currently a lecturer in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine at ICESI University, and Director of the Centre for Afrodiasporic Studies (CEAF) at the same University. CEAF is a multidisciplinary, diverse community committed to ethnic-racial justice with an intersectional perspective, through the co-creation of applied research, the appropriation of knowledge and public advocacy on the African diaspora. He is a member of Malunga: Network for Global Justice and Against Anti-Black Racism.
