Julio Ernesto Granda (Peru) is a Peruvian international chess grandmaster. He has had a long career in the game spanning more than 50 years, starting at a very young age and which led him to compete in Peru and around the world. He has participated in more than 300 international tournaments in more than 40 countries around the globe. He has been number one in Peru for 30 consecutive years and has been awarded the country’s laureles deportivos (“sporting laurels”), which is the highest distinction in Peruvian sport. Among his most notable achievements are the World Children's Championship in Mexico in 1980 and the World Senior Championship in Italy in 2017. He has also been a Pan-American and Ibero-American champion several times. Currently number one in Peru and also in Latin America, he is especially dedicated to both virtual teaching and the promotion of chess.
