Krzysztof CZYZEWSKI

czyzewski-krzysztof Krzystof Czyżewski is practitioner of ideas, writer, philosopher, culture animator, theatre director, editor. Teacher and lecturer, a visiting professor of Rutgers University and University of Bologna. Co-founder and president of the Borderland Foundation and director of the Centre Borderland of Arts, Cultures and Nations in Sejny. Together with his team, in Krasnogruda on the Polish-Lithuanian border he initiated an International Center for Dialog. Among his books published in English are: The Path of the Borderland, Trust & Identity: A Handbook of Dialog, Miłosz – Dialog – Borderland, The Krasnogruda Bridge. A Bridge-Builder’s Toolkit, Toward Xenopolis. Visions From the Borderland, and Firewords. Tiny Poems. His book A Small Center of the World. Notes of the Practitioner of Ides won Tischner Award for the best essayist book of the year. Books published in Ukrainian: Чужий – інша – свої. Розмова над берегом ріки (Lviv 2011), Лінія повернення. Про практику прикордоння у діалозі з Чеславом Мілошем (Lviv 2013), У напрямку Ксенополісу (Kiev 2024). Among the accolades he has received are: Jerzy Giedroyć Prize, Dan David Prize, Ambassador of European Year of Intercultural Dialog (Brussels), Prize of Two Nations by the Lithuanian and Polish Parliaments, Prince Margriet European Award for Culture (Amsterdam), and Ambassador of New Europe Prize (for a book Toward Xenopolis).
