(Lima, 1978) He is a historian by training and Professor of Latin American History at Texas State University. His interest in the “many things that happened in Peru,” as the chroniclers of the 16th century said, dates back to his first childhood trips to the Pachacamac Sanctuary, the Cuzco region, and the Mantaro Valley. He has specialized in Peruvian history of the 16th and 17th centuries. His publications include Los curacas hechiceros de Jauja: batallas mágicas y legales en el Perú colonial (2007); En los reinos de España. Viajeros andinos, justicia y favor en la corte de los Austrias (2022), with Sergio Vilela Galván; El último secreto de Machu Picchu. ¿Tiene dueño la ciudadela de los incas? (2018); and Machu Picchu. Un misterio entre las nubes (2024). He lives in Austin, Texas.
