His interest in the “many things that happened in Peru,” as the chroniclers of the 16th century said, dates back to his first childhood trips to the Pachacamac Sanctuary, the Cuzco region, and the Mantaro Valley. He has specialized in Peruvian history of the 16th and 17th centuries. His publications include Los curacas hechiceros de Jauja: batallas mágicas y legales en el Perú colonial (2007); En los reinos de España.
