Carlos Bardem (Madrid, 1963) is an actor and writer. With a degree in History and a diploma in International Relations, he published his first book, Durango Perdido, in 1997. His debut novel, Muertes ejemplares, was shortlisted for the Nadal Prize in 1999. A further book, Buziana o el peso del alma, won the Destino-Guión Prize in 2002. In 2005 he published a memoire of Pilar, his mother, entitled La Bardem; and in 2009, Alacrán enamorado (Plaza & Janés), which was made into a film in 2013. Badaq is his latest novel.
