Brenda Vanegas has a bachelor's degree in social communication from the Mónica Herrera School of Communications in El Salvador and a master's degree in scriptwriting for film and TV from the TAI School, Madrid, Spain. She founded her production company in 2011 in El Salvador; it is dedicated to making films with a focus on human rights. Brenda’s projects include: Before the Rain, her debut film addressing female migration; All the Fish focusing on children and the violence they suffer in rural areas; and Altares, a documentary of survivors of the El Mozote massacre in El Salvador. Vanegas has been a university professor for 15 years. She was columnist at Factum Magazine, and guest editor at the magazine Impudia Memoria of the Cultural Center of Spain and El Faro in El Salvador. She has given a TEDx talk addressing migration from emotional wounds. She was selected as one of the 100 most influential women in Central America by Forbes magazine.
