PhD in Arts, Master's degree in Anthropology, and Master's degree in Music, with emphasis on the saxophone, from the University of Antioquia. He mixes ethno-musicological research with teaching and performing. Author and co-author of several texts, including: El libro de las gaitas largas: tradición de los Montes de María (Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, 2013), El libro de las cumbias colombianas (Antioquia University, 2018) and the research and creative work Los diferentes porros en Colombia (Antioquia University, 2022). He currently lectures at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar and belongs to the Aguaelulo Trío group.
