Dejanira Álvarez, from Guadalajara, Mexico, is the General Manager of the New York Feria Internacional del Libro (FILNYC) and Deputy Manager of Academic and Student Services at the CUNY Institute of Mexican Studies. In 2020, she founded the Las Mimosas reading club, whose goal is to promote literary works written by women. Of her previous responsibilities, her role as General Coordinator of the FILNYC Anthology is an outstanding one; this was a project aimed at giving visibility to emerging authors who write in Spanish, both inside and outside the United States. In addition, she has been involved in the Oral History initiative, a digital archive compiled in collaboration with Bronxnet, the public television network of the Bronx, which seeks to raise awareness regarding the social impact of the Mexican community in New York. Throughout her career, Dejanira has led various projects, focusing on marketing, communication and media strategies for sporting and cultural events in Mexico and the United States. She is responsible for the communication and media strategies of the Lorena Ochoa Foundation, dedicated to transforming the education of children and young people in Mexico. She is the co-founder of FILMINIST, a cinema event dedicated to promoting the work of women in cinema.
