(Colombia) She is currently Deputy Cultural Manager at the Banco de la República de Colombia, and leads a national network of 29 cultural centers such as public libraries, museums and an extensive musical activity. She directed the Luis Ángel Arango Library, the flagship center of this cultural work. For ten years she was a professor of Latin American literature at Brandeis University, where she also directed the Center for Latin American Studies. She holds a B.A. in journalism from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, an M.A. from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. from SUNY Stony Brook. Her publications have focused on travel literature and cartography, buccaneers in the Caribbean and more recently cultural management. She has received awards for her academic and cultural work.
