Lawyer, journalist and human rights activist. Her professional training includes a Bachelor's degree in Law and Politics from the University of Panama; a Diploma in Constitutional Law and Politics from the Centre for Constitutional Studies of Madrid, Spain; a doctorate in Public Law from the Complutense University of Madrid; and an Interdisciplinary Course in Human Rights from the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights of Costa Rica. She has been a journalist for more than 20 years, first for the press (La Prensa newspaper) and later for radio, television and multimedia platforms (Medcom Group). Currently she is a columnist for the newspaper La Prensa and the author of articles in journals as well as the books Panamá, destino y comunidad and Carlos Valencia, una vida con historia.
She is President of the Foundation for the Development of Citizen Liberty, the Panamanian chapter of Transparency International, of which she was previously Executive Director. She is the founder and Legal Director of the Environmental Advocacy Centre of Panama (CIAM) and a member of the Centre for Democratic Initiatives (Cidem).
