Rocío Ferreira is the head of the Department of Women's and Gender Studies and Associate Professor of Latin American Literature, Culture and Cinema at DePaul University in Chicago; she is also co-director of the international poetry festival,

of Chicago. She received PhDs in Latin American Literature and in Women's Studies, Gender and Sexuality from the University of California, Berkeley. She specializes in 19

-century and contemporary literary and visual culture created by women. Her research areas are the founding narratives and journalism of the 19

centuries) and contemporary issues related to the patterns of memory in literature, culture and cinema. She has published numerous critical articles in specialized books, journals, and critical editions, in addition to her monograph
