Pura López Colomé (Mexico City, 1952) is a poet, essayist and translator. She studied Hispanic Literature at the UNAM Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. She is the author of 13 collections of poems, published with various companies (principally Conaculta and Fondo de Cultura Económica) and several books of essays published by UNAM. She has received the Alfonso Reyes National Award, the National Literary Translation Award, the Xavier Villaurrutia Award, the Linda Gaboriau Award, and recently the Inés Arredondo National Award for her literary career. She has translated the work of many authors, notably that of two Nobel Prize winners: Seamus Heaney and Louise Glück. She is a member of the National Artists’ Network and she lives in Cuernavaca.
