Doctor of Medicine and psychoanalyst, he is the Director of the Interdisciplinary College of Andean Studies (SIDEA). He has been the Vice-president and Treasurer of the International Psychoanalytical Association, President of the Peruvian Society of Psychoanalysis and Visiting Lecturer at George Washington University’s Elliot School of International Affairs and Guy’s Medical School, University of London. He has received the Mary S. Sigourney International Award, a Distinction for Exceptional Merit in the Service of Health, and the Medical Order of the Medical College of Peru. He has written and co-authored a number of books, including Cara a cara: entrevistas profanas y de Notas y variaciones sobre temas freudianos, and has edited around thirty psychoanalytical and interdisciplinary publications.
