Luis Miguel Bermúdez Gutiérrez graduated in Basic Education, specializing in Social Sciences, from the Francisco José de Caldas University, and has a Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Social Research from that university and a doctorate in Education from the Santo Tomas University. He won the 2017 Compartir Great Teacher Award, was in the Top 10 for the 2018 Global Teacher Prize 2018 and won the 2020 Global Teacher Award. As a researcher, he is an expert on the subjects of gender, sexuality, sexual diversity, citizenship, human rights, education in sexuality, the curriculum and childhood and has participated at different academic conferences and events; he has also disseminated his work through lectures, articles and book chapters. He has worked as a teacher in Social Sciences and Ethics at the Gerardo Paredes IED school, where he has managed the implementation of the Education for Sexuality and Citizenship Construction project, which has produced significant results in terms of reducing teenage pregnancy and preventing sexual and gender violence.
