Pepe CABANA

From a Japanese-Peruvian background, he is Creative Director and Cultural Manager of Mukashi Mukashi - Raymi Kamishibai and Leer Es Para Todos. This author and illustrator of children’s books has a Master’s degree in Digital Graphics and another in Multimedia. Promotor of oral storytelling, puppetry, creative recycling, popular Peruvian art, reading and Kamishibai (Japanese paper theatre). Director and producer of the radio programme and international event Amigos De Los Cuentos. TEDxWarsaw 2012 speaker, he talked about his work, fusing the Kamishibai and Retablo Ayacuchano formats. Considered by the international community to be one of Kamishibai’s greatest practitioners, his work has been recognized by the APJ Peruvian Japanese Association’s Department of Culture. He is the director of Perú y Japón, Unidos Por Las Historias, an initiative that, since 2017, has been promoting Kamishibai, bringing performers to Peru. He runs the international pedagogical event, Libro y Lector, Amistad y Aprendizaje. His proposal was selected by the CULTURAYMI Programme of the 2019 Lima Pan-American and Parapan-American Games.
