Carla SANTANA TORRES

santana-torres-carla Born in Mexico City (1970), she now lives in Querétaro. A UNAM graduate, she has a doctorate in Biomedical Sciences, specializing in Molecular Biology. In 2001 she founded the company Biología Molecular Diagnóstica, a laboratory clinic specialising in Molecular Diagnostics. To date she has published 20 research articles in scientific journals, and has given over 100 lectures. She became involved in nature photography in 2005 and in 2011 she studied photography at Querétaro’s Active Photography School. She took part in the group exhibition Homenaje a Joan Andrews Mérida Yucatán in 2017 and the exhibition Mujer de Manos Fuertes at the Fotogalería Estación de Hércules in 2018. Her first solo show, El Planeta que Amo, was at the Fotogalería Estación Hércules, in 2019. She is currently working on a National Geographic photography project that is studying the genetic diversity of indigenous populations in Mexico, run by Dr Rocío Gómez. She belongs to the Mexican Community of Nature Photographers. She has a great passion for nature photography, and her aim is to raise awareness about the environment and increase our love of our planet.
