Thirty years after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and in the midst of the war between Russia and Ukraine, concepts such as the Cold War, the spectre of World War III, the threat of nuclear war or the possibility of the birth of a new world order have reappeared in our conversations. In the media, intelligence services and spies have regained prominence. In her latest book, the writer and journalist Reyes Monforte, reveals La violinista roja, (the Red Violinist) the figure of África de la Heras, the Spanish woman who became the most important Soviet spy of the 20th century, one of the first and very few women to reach the rank of KGB Colonel, having created the largest network of Soviet spies that operated worldwide for 20 years.
The writer will talk with Alberto Marcos, editor of Plaza y Jánes, Head of Fiction at Penguin Random House.
At the end of the meeting, five copies of La violinista roja will be raffled among the attendees. And Reyes Monforte will sign copies of her works.
