Leonardo Padura in conversation with Javier Lafuente

Cartagena 2022,

The novelist, journalist and critic Leonardo Padura (Cuba) is the author of several novels, two volumes of short stories and several works of non-fiction. His novels, featuring the protagonist Mario Conde, have received literary awards around the world. The Man Who Loved Dogs (2015), shortlisted for a Book of the Year Award in Spain, is a fascinating historical inquiry in the form of a novel about Ramón Mercader, the murderer of Leon Trotsky. In 2015, Padura received the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature for his body of work. At this event he will talk to Javier Lafuente, journalist and Assistant Editor of the America and Mexico editions of El País, about love, friendship, exile and the polarized situation that Cuba is currently experiencing; these are all themes present in his latest novel, Como polvo en el viento (2020).
