Adela Cortina (Spain) has honorary doctorates from a number of universities in Spain and across Europe and Latin America, she is a member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, has been on the jury of the Princess of Asturias Awards for Communication, Humanities and Social Sciences. She is also the author of over 30 publications, including her book Aporofobia. El rechazo al pobre an essay about the systematic aversion and neglect suffered by the less favoured members of society.
