Two acclaimed Italian writers will talk to Francesco Manetto about the idea of Europe, linked to the context of Italy and the pandemic, and about how they have reflected the “European problem” in their texts. The latest book by Erri De Luca, Impossibile (2020) is a novel about two men who meet on a mountain path years after a trial that marked the lives of both, one as the accused, and the other as informer. Io sono con te (2016), the most recent book by Melania Mazzucco, tells the story of a Congolese refugee who is in flight from the violence and abuse of her country of origin and who arrives, without documents and defenceless, in a freezing Italian winter.
