The Colombian dancer Fernando Montaño is a soloist with the Royal Ballet in London, the first Colombian to be a part of this company. He joined in 2006, became First Artist in 2010 and Soloist in 2014. In 2019 he received an honorary degree from the University of Bath. Montaño performs a dance along with readings from his autobiographical publication, Una buena ventura, about his humble origins and his incredible path to stardom. Confined to his Los Angeles studio, Montaño is working on a film adaptation of his book. This event is a contemporary version of The Dying Swan, given while in quarantine, that draws on marimba, classical ballet and Colombian folklore traditions.
