The writer and journalist, Alma Guillermoprieto (Mexico), began her career has a journalist covering the revolutionary movements in Nicaragua and El Salvador in the 1970s and 80s. She has won the MacArthur Award (1995), the 2017 Ortega y Gasset Journalism Prize, and a Princess of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities (2018). Her latest book, ¿Será que soy feminista? (2020), considers a question that could not be more important in a society that makes invisible, mistreats, rapes and kills women. Guillermoprieto explores Latin America with a focus on the last century’s history of exclusion and violence, and also struggle against sexism and the patriarchy. In conversation with Javier Lafuente.
