Hay Forum Dallas. Salman Rushdie in conversation with Carmen Boullosa

Querétaro 2020,

The eminent writer of Midnight’s Children (1981) and The Satanic Verses (1988) presents his most recent novel, Quichotte (2020), a contemporary satire based on Cervantes’ timeless classic. Sam DuChamp, a mediocre novelist, creates the character of Ismail Smile, or “Quichotte”, a US salesman obsessed with television and particularly with one of the stars of the small screen. The character undertakes a journey across the United States together with his imaginary son, Sancho, in search of the object of his love. Meanwhile the author faces up to his own troubles. Salman Rushdie will talk to Carmen Boullosa.
