What memory should we retain of our history? Juan Esteban Constaín and María Elvira Samper in conversation with Juan Lozano

Cartagena 2020,

Juan Esteban Constaín has reconstructed the life of Álvaro Gómez Hurtado, one of Colombian 20th-century politics’ key figures, in Álvaro: Su vida y su siglo. More than just a biography, this book is the portrait of a very troubled time and a witness to it, a controversial and central figure for Colombia, as well as a depiction of the role he played. María Elvira Samper takes us to a year of pure crisis for Colombia in her book 1989: narcoterrorism, the paramilitaries, war for the control of resources, general uncertainty and political instability. They will talk to Juan Lozano.
